When we travelled to Le Mans in July to play all seven of Escape Time’s games, Alpha District was without a doubt the one we were most curious about. Ranked 54th in the 2024 TERPECA awards and winner of 2nd place at the Spanish Escape Room Awards, this 150‑minute cyberpunk epic already had a formidable reputation. After experiencing it for ourselves, I can honestly say it more than lives up to the hype.

From the moment you enter, Alpha District throws you headfirst into a dystopian city controlled by Vincent Lenoir, Escape Time’s recurring antagonist. The scale feels cinematic: neon‑lit environments, sprawling sets, and a deeply immersive atmosphere that makes you forget you are inside an escape room. This isn’t just a game; it’s a multi‑layered adventure where exploration, teamwork, and storytelling constantly intertwine.

The puzzle design is smartly integrated with the environment. Nothing feels tacked on – every interaction advances the story or deepens the cyberpunk immersion. At times you’re solving mechanical challenges, at others you’re manipulating hi‑tech systems or making choices that heighten the tension. It’s a long game, but the pacing is excellent: discoveries keep coming, and just when you think you’ve reached the climax, Alpha District pushes the narrative into an even bigger confrontation.

What makes it particularly memorable is how it ties into Escape Time’s wider Vincent Lenoir saga. This room feels like the culmination of everything that came before it, both in gameplay ambition and in narrative payoff. You don’t have to play the other six games to enjoy Alpha District, but knowing the overarching storyline only amplifies its impact.

A short train ride from Paris brings you to Le Mans – home to one of Europe’s must‑play large scale escape rooms. While we recommend playing the full Escape Time catalogue to follow Vincent Lenoir’s story, Alpha District is the jewel in their crown.
