Introduction
I genuinely struggle to find the right words for Cosy Nest. Crazy? Bizarre? Surreal? Unhinged? Still, it doesn’t quite capture what we experienced.
This is one of the escape rooms where the concept itself becomes part of the surprise. It throws you into a world so strange, imaginative and completely unpredictable that trying to explain it afterwards almost makes it sound even more absurd.
And that is exactly what fascinated me about it. We never knew what the room would come up with next—and the deeper we went, the more this wonderfully weird experience developed a dark and unsettling edge.
Story & Emotion
The story of Cosy Nest follows its own wonderfully strange logic. As stowaways aboard the Anle, we soon discovered that this was far more than just a ship—and that food, hunger and survival are all connected in rather disturbing ways. We gradually discovered the rules of this world, its hierarchy and what it takes to survive there—and with every new piece of information, things somehow became even more bizarre.
What initially felt almost absurd gradually became increasingly unsettling. The room constantly shifted between curiosity, dark humour and genuine unease, without ever feeling like traditional horror.
That contrast made the experience so memorable: we were fascinated, amused and genuinely creeped out at the same time.
Set & Atmosphere
Cosy Nest has a fascinating way of taking something organic and biological and representing it through a completely unexpected, almost constructed world.
Certain movements and sensations suddenly gave meaning to the spaces around us, turning processes we all know from the human body into something we could actually experience. It was incredibly imaginative—and also wonderfully weird once we realized what some of these moments were supposed to represent.
That surreal approach continues throughout the set. Nothing feels quite like it should, and even seemingly recognizable places have an unsettling twist. Add characters like the memorable Butcher into that world, and the result is an atmosphere that is bizarre, playful and deeply creepy all at once.
Puzzles & Teamwork
The gameplay is mission-driven and closely connected to the story. We sneaked through dangerous areas, interacted with characters, explored the peculiar structure of Anle and gradually learned how to survive according to its rules. It was always VERY important to follow them…
Final Thoughts
Cosy Nest was easily one of the weirdest and most original story experiences I have played —and somehow also the creepiest.
Its horror is difficult to define. It isn’t classic horror, but something much stranger: surreal, unsettling and slightly disturbing in a way that constantly made me wonder what on earth we had stepped into.
I still can’t really explain what Cosy Nest was. And maybe that’s exactly what made it so memorable.
