Downfall – Spy Mission
Downfall – Spy Mission Escape Room is a 120-minute premium game which is ranked as Scandinavia’s best escape room (2024). The Mission is set in 1989 Soviet territory and the players have to infiltrate General Kolnikov’s headquarters to prevent World War III.
As a team of Moldovan Pied Pipers, we have to make our way through the general’s office, outsmart various security technology and constantly be on guard against the watchful and very suspicious security guard.
Two aspects that I particularly liked about this game. Firstly, there are the numerous humorous interactions with the professional actor, who reacted very quickly to all situations that arose. This requires the group’s creativity and ingenuity. Diversionary maneuvers, lies, nasty tricks – everything is allowed to gain access to the command center.
Secondly, there are the various tasks and achievements that the team should complete during their mission in order to get as high a score as possible at the end. Downfall is also a kind of high score game in which the group can collect points for a variety of things, from collecting certain objects, finding out specific information, to using the right practices to achieve the mission goal.
We’ve already played Downfall once during the pandemic as a remote escape game, which was also a lot of fun, but as a live escape game, it was of course a level up.
A very entertaining game, with strong actors, that we’d happily recommend.
