Exodus had already been on our wishlist during our last trip to Barcelona, after several people highly recommended it to us. So it’s no surprise that the game made it to the TERPECA finals this year. Back then, it wasn’t fully ready yet, but this time we finally made it – and it was absolutely worth the wait!
Finding a parking spot, however, was a total nightmare, and we arrived quite late. Thankfully, we dropped off Fran at the venue earlier to let them know, and she was brilliantly entertained by the Game Master – completely in character – while waiting for us. By the time we arrived, everything was super relaxed, and even during the game, they made sure we never felt rushed or behind schedule. No stress, no pressure, just great professionalism and warm hospitality – a huge thank you for that!
The mission begins – as is often the case in Spain – the moment you step through the entrance door. A “survivor” greets you, leads you to a safe shelter, and gives you your briefing. The introduction is incredibly immersive: the actor delivers a fantastic performance, adding moments of humor while keeping the tension of the situation alive. The world we’ve stumbled into is far from safe.
Soon after, we’re left to face it on our own – in a world devastated by a deadly virus. Our goal: complete the Exodus project and leave the planet before everything falls apart. Time is mercilessly ticking away, and something out there is determined to stop us.
The theme and structure remind us a bit of Unreal’s Districto 111 in Barcelona. This post-apocalyptic adventure is also spread across multiple large areas, with transitions that aren’t always easy to navigate. Expect some crawling, climbing, and tight spaces along the way.
The puzzles are creative and fun, at times quite physical and teamwork-oriented, which really enhances the realism. The overall flow was great, and whenever we got lost, help arrived – naturally still in character – to guide us back on track.
Exodus is a fantastic all-around experience and definitely one of Barcelona’s current must-play highlights. Add it to your list!
