Eliviascape is definitely worth the trip – this company have good solid games and what they are doing here is welcoming. The games have it all, puzzles, excitement, tension and narrative. Having now played many games across Europe, it becomes harder to see something new and easier to scrutinise.
My experience of scarier games in N.America, tend to not be comparable to the horror games seen across Europe. But after playing Abstraction I was excited to see how Judgement Day was going to unfold.
This game definitely had a more influenced European feel to it.
The two games had a similar feel, but this felt that the creator had just gone an extra step and pushed the boundaries to try and unravel that finished product. Using the narrative and set pieces to bring it to life.
This was a very story driven game, If you stick with the story, it’s very emotive with a fitting finale. Albeit, it’s quite a dark theme.
The game is dark at times as well as the theme and has a sense of foreboding.
There was a clever use of lighting and sound creating a tense environment.
The game was vast with some lovely set pieces, transitions were nice with a couple of really interesting puzzle dynamics along the way. We stuck on a puzzle but we should have paid more attention to our briefing. Puzzles were varied with a good mix, with collaborative puzzles creating fun and tension equally.
The finale was a highlight and really well done, good to see that it wasn’t completely terrifying just for the sake of being terrifying. I feel that it balanced scare with safe perfectly, therefore catering for even the more timid members of the team. (We did have one and it’s nice that it’s no longer me)
