Introduction
Right from the first moment, the game found a clever and immersive way to guide us into its world—using light and darkness in a way that felt eerie and theatrical. It was as if something otherworldly led us toward the experience, and that subtle magic set the perfect tone for what was to come.
Story & Emotion
It’s the sense of being watched—or not—that keeps you constantly alert. The story carries real emotional weight, told in a way that feels both intimate and theatrical. It’s haunting not just because of its creepy atmosphere, but because the story has something to say. As the game progressed, I felt more and more immersed in the tragedy behind the mystery. It’s rare to find a room where the narrative feels so naturally and effectively told.
Set & Atmosphere
This isn’t your typical scare-fest or high-adrenaline horror experience. Instead, Overlook weaves a thriller with a dark atmosphere, full of tension and unease. It’s less about what jumps out at you and more about what doesn’t. I found myself constantly on edge, expecting something to happen…
While the set includes some clever effects and well-crafted decor, the intentionally dark environment made it difficult at times to spot important clues. A bit more visual guidance or placement refinement could have helped maintain flow. Still, the overall ambiance is strong and supports the story-driven experience beautifully.
Puzzles & Teamwork
The room offers a varied set of puzzles and tasks that keep things interesting throughout. The tasks are diverse in style—ranging from observational to logical—and are well-integrated into the narrative and environment.
Teamwork isn’t a major focus, with only a few moments requiring communication or coordination. It plays very smoothly with two people and would work just as well with up to four.
Final Thoughts
We came in with no expectations and left genuinely impressed. Overlook is a room that thrives on atmosphere and storytelling, crafting an emotional dark experience. The set design and sound create a constant sense of unease without relying on cheap jump scares—something I truly appreciated.
If you’re into psychological thrillers that make your skin crawl in the best way, Overlook is a must-visit. Just be warned: in the darkness, there’s a good chance you might—well—OVERLOOK something… we did more than once.
