Sherlock VIP

This is a review of the Escape Room “Sherlock VIP” offered by Escape Room By Midgaard Event in Copenhagen, Denmark.

If you ask for recommendations for Denmark, the name Midgaard is likely to come up. In what they claim to be the largest escape room facility in Europe, up to 96 people can play 16 rooms at the same time, which are divided into four themes. The flagship room is certainly Downfall, which also attracted attention this year with a 153rd place at Terpeca.

Another recommended room is Sherlock, which is offered in 2 options. Firstly, there is the 75′ minute variant, in which 6-12 players are divided into two teams, start at the same time in different rooms and have to reach their goal together. Cooperation and teamwork are the focus here. The second variant, which we played, is called Sherlock VIP. It is for 3-6 players, lasts 120 minutes and you play in all the rooms that the two teams would otherwise divide between them.

As befits a master detective, Sherlock has a variety of tricky puzzles (some of them multi-layered) that require a lot of cooperation. The flow of the game was intact and logical at all times. Apart from a small search error, we were able to complete the mission without any help. Our game master did a very good job, was very attentive and stayed in character the whole time.

Sherlock VIP also scores points with its stylish decoration and the many authentic props. I am a fan of antique padlocks, of which there were some unusual examples to admire here.

One downside, if you want to play several rooms in Denmark, are certainly the high prices. That’s about the same as in Switzerland. So we limited ourselves to the two top rooms at Sherlock and then took the train (approx. 30 minutes) to Malmö.
