Our experience in “Sociopath” at Blind Alley in Athens was really incredible. From the puzzles to the atmosphere, this room delivered an adventure. However, it is important to note that the game is not fully translated into English. The cinematics and actor dialogues are in Greek, which might pose a challenge for non-Greek-speaking players. Fortunately, we had the wonderful Roula as our translator, who did an exceptional job ensuring we understood the story throughout the game. The puzzles themselves, however, were available in English.
The puzzles and task in this room were highly creative, with one in particular standing out—something I had never seen before. All players found themselves in a situation where they were physically restricted. The puzzle blended restriction and immersion in a way that perfectly fit the room’s intense atmosphere. None of the puzzles were overly difficult; they ranged from easy to medium in complexity but were always engaging and well.
The game space was massive, featuring multiple set changes. One thing I truly appreciated was how well the room was designed in terms of safety. Given that there are moments when you might want to run (yes, really – even I ran!), it was reassuring to see that safety was taken into account. The transitions between sets were smooth, adding to the cinematic feel of the experience.
Although we did not understand what the actors were saying, their emotions were conveyed so powerfully that we could feel every moment of the story. The performances were action-driven, which made it easier for us to grasp the context through their movements and interactions. The narrative evoked a range of emotions in me—compassion, sadness, anger, and, of course, fear. The combination of the story, set, and actors created an unforgettable experience.
“Sociopath” was the biggest surprise of our latest escape room trip, and I am beyond thrilled that we had the opportunity to play it. Everything—from the story to the puzzles and set—was masterfully executed. This room became my personal favourite, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and emotional escape room adventure.
