The Concierge

This is a review of the Escape Room “The Concierge” offered by Kamer 237 in Volkel, Netherlands.

This room is designed for teams of 2, and as with all Kramer 237 experiences it is beautifully hotel themed and driven by a detailed narrative. You are there for a job, as new concierges, and we needed to prove that we are up to the task.

We were told that our prospective employer is not an easy man to please, so we should be fast and accurate. He will not be pleased if our progress is not up to scratch and he will be rather vocal with his scorn.

So we entered the room already prepared for an onslaught of insults, and we were faced with an office containing a variety of hotel-themed props and puzzles and a number of challenges to complete.

I can’t say too much about the room, because… spoilers, but there were points where we did get insulted, but also points where we get a little positive reinforcement. At times it really did feel like part of a job interview, especially when stress levels increased and your potential employer is showing displeasure.

The narrative was interwoven into the room, each solution gave us more of the background story and leading us to a satisfying conclusion to the adventure. Almost all of the puzzles required teamwork making this a great collaborative room and there is a great variety of puzzle types so something for everyone.

Personally, I think this room would take a third person, there is plenty to do and experience here and an extra pair of hands would have been useful for us at points. Admittedly the space is limited, but three would fit.
