Many of the horror escape rooms are inspired by horror movies and this is a further example of it, as it is based on the homonymous movie from 2019. I do not watch horror films, but as a part of a general cinematographic culture I usually know what the horror escape rooms are about and if not, I try to read the plot in advance. In this case however the general topic was known to me as the legend of La Llorona is part of the Latin-American folklore and foregoes the movie by several centuries. While the most known version and oldest documented one is from Mexico, there are variants of it in whole Latin-America, even one from my home country Uruguay.

There are certain elements, which are common to many horror rooms in Athens. Many take place in a house with some evil presence and this is not different in this game, however there were several elements, which made this room stand out. In the first place the room was not heavily based on pointless scaring but was more narrative driven.

I really enjoyed the cinematics and the choice of music used. I loved how one cinematic was used for a reveal preceding a transition that was surprising in terms of set and was one of the highlights for me of the game. Also, during the game there was a nice dynamic leading to cinematic scenes that was very well achieved. The cinematics were also complemented by very nice effects.

For a horror room the puzzles were well done. One of them was particularly clever and very nicely connected to the story of the room. Overall, I found it a very solid game that is definitely worth playing.
