In the Escape Room’s market there are companies that do more of the same and others that with their original ideas contribute to the evolution of the game, among the latter there are those that were definitely ahead of their time. When I think about my “home country” games like The Vault and Girl’s Room come to my mind. Games that in spite of the time that has passed (more than 5 years!) still made their way into the list of Terpeca’s finalists, because great games, in my view, tend to age well if properly maintained.
When I think about these kind of rooms in Spain, The doctor’s cocktail is the first one that comes to my mind. This room was one of the first or maybe even the first horror escape room in Spain and even today it stands out as an unforgettable experience.
The start of the game is insane and one can see how they applied a similar concept in the recently awarded La casa (undisclosed game location until 30 minutes before the game and only reachable by car).
The setting and the puzzles might be considered on the simpler side compared to today standards, but both the beginning, thanks to a fantastic acting, and the end of the game more than compensate for that. Even more when you consider when this was conceived. And in my humble opinion in this aspect I’d say they even beat their newest game.
For the horror lovers who make all the way to Berga I still can wholeheartedly recommend to play this game. And like in La Casa, for maximum scare factor make sure to go there at night…if you dare.
