During our Escaparium marathon we played Final Stop (Version 2), a room that immediately struck me as both challenging and intriguing. The opening sequence caught us off guard—we found ourselves missing things that, in hindsight, were obvious. This created an early sense of tension, though it also made the eventual progress feel satisfying.

As the game unfolded, however, the challenge level shifted. What began as difficult soon gave way to much simpler tasks, sometimes surprisingly so. There was even one puzzle that still remains a mystery to me—I have no idea how it actually operated, which in its own way kept the experience memorable.

The narrative here is wrapped in an eerie atmosphere. While it does not lean into horror in the traditional sense, it carries a constant undercurrent of unease, with the pacing ramping up toward the finale. The game creates a strong sense of urgency, particularly in the closing stretch, which fit perfectly with the setting.

The set design, as with so many Escaparium rooms, is truly remarkable. Every space feels lived in, textured, and cinematic. The production quality carried the weight of the story even when the puzzle flow didn’t fully click for me. The acting style from our GM was not entirely to my taste—we had to rely on signals at one point that felt less novel—but the immersion of the environment helped to offset this.

To the game’s credit, I must acknowledge the circumstances under which we played: it was the very end of our trip, we were exhausted, my wife was pregnant, we had our 14-month-old wandering the set trying to eat props, and I was feeling unwell. Under those conditions, it’s no surprise that the game flow felt less smooth. With one or two more adults in the team and a clearer head, I am convinced this would have been an entirely different experience for us.

Despite these challenges, Final Stop (Version 2) still proved to be a thrilling and remarkably fun adventure. It may not have been my favorite flow of puzzles, but the atmosphere, urgency, and unforgettable set design ensured that it left a strong impression. It is a game I would happily revisit under better circumstances.
