I was a little nervous going into this room as it was my first ‘horror’ room, where the room states ‘live actor’ this means, weare likely to be joined by someone who isn’t my teammate and definitely isn’t my friend. I somehow made it through to the end (just) and I’m clearly still here to tell the tale. Also, I actually really enjoyed it!

We entered the room, it was dark, our vision was limited. As we all stood round and were gaining our bearings, the narrativebegan to play to us. After the intro ended, the ‘game’ started. With still limited light, we set about our first puzzle.

This game takes you on a journey, with a Jumanji styleplaythrough with a twisted, creepy vibe, I would have been quite happy to have ended up in a jungle but instead, I was in an abandoned house that beckoned me to roll the dice first (oh joy).

Throughout the game, we each took turns rolling the dice, never really knowing where we would end up next. The game moved through areas with nice transitions.

The set design was fitting and having only played mainly in the UK, I saw a different use of signposting that I really liked. This wasn’t the only game on this trip I saw this type of signposting. I found it subtle, clever and apparent. Having not witnessed this before, it was definitely a standout for me!

The puzzles were in keeping with the theme, there was a nice mix, giving everybody in the team something to do. At one point there was a moment in this game that nearly had me quit. After getting fully immersed in one puzzle and forgetting my surroundings, I was unfortunate to succumb to a rather big jump scare. After a large scream and nearly bursting into tears, I managed to start laughing instead…
Luckily we did eventually make it out of the house alive.

Now the question is, have I become braver after this game?? Maybe only a little..
