The Great Loudini (Live)
The Great Loudini by Escapable in Wakefield was the UK’s best new entry at Terpeca last year, coming in at number 169. The room is a little difficult to book due to the limited availability of the main actor. You have to be aware that the shows can currently only be performed by Thomas (the operator) himself. He is a gifted magician (also performs on stage as) whose tricks have amazed me several times. He is also an excellent live actor.
Due to this shortage of staff, a puzzle version has been available in addition to the live version since 2024. The room itself is certainly worthwhile, but if you have the opportunity to get a live ticket, you should definitely do it. The difference is that the live version includes a small magic performance beforehand, as well as some magical interludes during the game, which I really enjoyed.
What is it about? The greatest magician of all time, Harry Houdini, asks us for help. A fraudster has stolen one of his diaries and has been undermining his throne ever since as “The Great Loudini”. We are supposed to bring him back the valuable collection of his best magic tricks.
The Great Loudini is a magical room with beautiful decoration and a variety of themed puzzles and tasks whose signage was exemplary. The two of us enjoyed almost the entire sixty minutes. Our puzzle session was accompanied by stylish music and was occasionally livened up by an acting performance or a magic trick. A highly recommended experience!
