After a small amount of psychological profiling, our team was given our roles within this experience. Every player is given their own Hex Box, a tool or clue that is for them-alone to solve – if they don’t, even if you escape you do not “survive”.
I was thrilled and daunted by being given the role of The Detective where I can communicate to every other player that’s locked in their own environment. The Nerd, Virgin, Jock, Rebel, Prom Queen were all solving their own rooms, with me passing items to and fro. Dealing with many voices and objects at the same time was thrilling and exhausting.
Just by reading about this game you can see the unique structure it has, and the game was a delight to play. As the game progresses you continue to work individually and as a team.
This is advertised as a scary experience, it’s unnerving but there are no live actors in this game, it leaves you on edge for the perfect amount.
I look back fondly over this game mechanic, and this game was a sheer delight to play.
