On the last day of our trip to Athens, we had the incredible opportunity to test-play The NUN, just days before its grand opening. Being one of the most anticipated escape rooms in the city, it had set high expectations—and it certainly delivered on all fronts.
We were called to the “Santa Lucia” Boarding School by Irene, who desperately pleads for help in destroying a powerful and dangerous force that now sows death recklessly. This pulled us right into an experience where every choice has the potential to save or doom lives.
Right from the beginning, the atmosphere was chilling and dark. The room masterfully balanced its horror elements, delivering a mix of creepy moments, perfectly timed jump scares, and breathtaking cinematic sequences. Each moment felt carefully designed to keep us on edge and fully engaged.
While The NUN demands bravery from the entire group, one person in particular will have to master some extra courage—something we truly appreciated as it added an extra layer of teamwork and tension. With a group of three, we found the experience ideal, especially since some areas of the room were a bit smaller. Despite this, the cinematic sequences were cleverly arranged so everyone could enjoy them fully, no matter where we stood.
The set design and technical execution were exceptional, creating a sense of authenticity that left us deeply immersed. From the lighting, with one very memorable moment, to the incredible soundscapes, every detail worked together to bring story to life.
For horror enthusiasts, The NUN is a must-play experience. It’s a room that manages to push boundaries with its surprises and immersive storytelling, and it’s one we’ll remember for a long time. Kudos to Vansa for crafting such a memorable adventure in their third Athens location! As one of the features did not work during our test play (which we did not even notice during the game) we might also be back soon to see the room in full glory.
