When you ask insiders about the best cities/regions for an Escape Trip to Poland, Warsaw is surprisingly often only mentioned in third or fourth place. This is also the main reason why we only looked at the Polish capital more intensively on our fourth trip.

When researching recommendable rooms in Warsaw, however, sooner or later you inevitably come across the provider Black Cat Escape Room, which, with 1200 m², is the largest Escape Room in Poland according to their quadrilingual website (PL, EN, ES, RU) and also offers company events including catering. I don’t know where the name Black Cat comes from. We did meet some quite trusting cats there, but none of them were black. But there is a good pilsner on site with the label of a black cat.

Unfortunately, we only had time for three of the five rooms that day. Moreover, there were only two of us, and my playing partner, Adam, had already played Warsaw Uprising. He kindly agreed to play this room again with me and was discreet about solving puzzles.

Each scenario begins with a trailer in a small cinema specially provided for the purpose, which is separated from the event area by a curtain. Here we learn the details of our mission in a very professionally made film.

Warsaw Uprising is with actors, which in this case is no secret, as it is openly stated on the website. However, those who book the room should do so on a weekend if possible, because then a second actor is involved.

The game is large-scale and advertised for up to 10(!) people. As I said, we were only 1.5 players, which is why I sometimes had a bit of a hard time finding certain things in the spacious area. Here, one or two pairs of eyes or another person would certainly have been helpful.

The setting (including sound and light) is very professional and authentic. That’s why I can understand why Warsaw Uprising was ranked 81st in the Terpeca 2022 and why it was one of the few rooms to maintain or even improve its position compared to the previous year (82nd).

It requires some physical activity (climbing, crawling) in the game, and you should therefore wear comfortable clothes that may also get a little dirty. I really enjoyed Warsaw Uprising, as well as the other two rooms (Cursed Painting and Murder House Remastered). So, if you’re in Warsaw for an Escape Trip, Black Cat should definitely be on your list.
