The Secret of the Orphanage

This is a review of the Escape Room “The Secret of the Orphanage” offered by The Room in Tallinn, Estonia.
  • ⭐️ 8.3/10
  • 🌡 Difficult
  • ⏳ 75 Minutes
  • 👥 2 – 5 Person

I’ve played this room several times in different versions. As “The Abandoned Orphanage” (60 minutes) in Munich and Augsburg, or “The Secret of the Asylum” as a 90-minute version in Athens. In terms of layout, all the rooms are very similar. However, there are more or less variations in the puzzles, especially in the finale.

I have to say, I liked the Tallinn version the best so far. Why? Firstly, I found the sound in this game phenomenal. For example, there’s a scene where the lights are off and you hear someone entering the room. I felt that was absolutely realistic. The wooden floor creaked and footsteps moved “tangibly” through the room. This way, you can create goosebumps even without actors.

Secondly, I liked the aforementioned finale, which is often cited as a criticism of this game, much better in Estonia. It has a few additional puzzles compared to the German version. The time limit is tight at 75 minutes. We just about finished, or maybe even went a bit overtime.

For me, this was the strongest room we played in Tallinn.
