Dead Man’s Revenge was, along with Abandoned Hotel and Warsaw Uprising, one of the three Terpeca winners from Poland in 2013. Being a newcomer right at number 36 is quite impressive!

When the captain announces that he is looking for new recruits for his legendary pirate ship, the Golden Sail, we don’t hesitate for a second and sign up. Countless adventures await us in the Caribbean. Tons of gold to loot and of course endless fame!

Dead Man’s Revenge has several aspects that I quite enjoyed. On the one hand, there is the very humorous story, with two characters who accompany us on our adventure and with whom there are always funny dialogues or interactions. I was also impressed by the very creative use of animatronics in a certain game sequence.

If there is anything to complain about with this game, for me it was the game flow. The sign posting could be improved in a few places. We got stuck twice for a relatively long time and frustration set in because the very original automatic help system had reached its limits and kept presenting us with the same clues until the GM stepped in at some point and gave us the right tip. Not all audio files were translated. However, we received a scroll with the lyrics for one song.

Nonetheless, Dead Man’s Revenge is a great pirate adventure that you should definitely play. With 2-3 you are in an excellent position here.
