Arriving in Athens before my teammates, I was happy to have found nice local players (good old friends) who played escape games with me on the day of my arrival. With Overdose we chose a relatively new provider, whose slogan “A story based on true events” sounded very promising for their horror room “The Existence”.

It’s about a mysterious house that is for sale, around which some dark rumours have been spreading. Rumour has it that the owner has kept dead people there and that certain incantation ceremonies were performed. But we do not believe this humbug, and so the three of us, as prospective buyers, stand in front of the massive entrance door to take a closer look at the building.

A somewhat frightening Haunted House, with old furniture and horrible pictures. There are a number of effects and jumpscares and, as one might expect, encounters with the spirits of the past. Compliments to the actors, for the make-up and performance and the “direction” for the well timed use of sound and light.

Puzzles are not neglected and the lighting conditions are sufficient to solve them. If I remember correctly, we made relatively good use of the 90 minutes playing time.

Afterwards we discussed for a while. Since the game is still relatively young, the provider was very interested in our feedback, and we hopefully were able to provide some useful input. Thanks to Dimitris and Panayotis for playing and the nice end of the first evening

The Existence is also part of an Escape Route, which consists of ten games (mostly horror). For more details see www.escaperoutes.gr
