Wouldn’t you also be interested in knowing what your life would have been like in another age? Who would you be? A gunslinger in the Wild West? A gladiator in the Roman Empire? A quack in the Middle Ages? We’re keenly interested, and thanks to Dr Mad, our curiosity can finally be satisfied. Just choose the age of your dreams, it says flowery in the travel brochure of his time machine. We should have read the *footnote!!!
*) The selected era is not guaranteed!
So, we enter the time machine full of expectation and excitement, unaware that there have been minor technical glitches here and there (there’s always a bit of waste), and that we should by no means speak of series production and mass tourism for time travel at this stage. We are spoilt for choice! Where to go first? Madness! There are so many options! We don’t dare to travel far back in time on our first attempt, so we decide on the seventies! We look forward to hippies, wild hairstyles, bell-bottoms and … Oldies. Well, at that time they weren’t oldies yet 😉
Of course, we are quite horrified when a minor incident actually occurs, and we suddenly find ourselves in a completely different period than intended. We have the impression that the machine may still be lacking the necessary fine-tuning. Will we be able to repair Dr Mad’s time machine and travel back to the present?
Time travel is usually a popular and rewarding theme for escape games. There are no limits to the inventor’s imagination and very different locations can be combined with one another as desired without it becoming illogical or causing a break in the story.
What sets Dr Mad’s time machine apart from the other time travel adventures we’ve been on?
For me, first of all, there is the storytelling. Accompanied by several very funny video clips with Dr Mad (intro, outro and during the game), which make the story immersive, believable and very entertaining. The creativity with which this excellent script was put into practice is reflected in both – the tasks and puzzles, which fit like a glove and are simply fun, and in the setting, which is, as with Birth Machine, very detailed, professional, and really beautiful.
It is difficult to say which of the two machines we liked better. It is rare to find two such top-level rooms under one roof, which clearly speaks for the quality of Mad Machines. Also in our Ranked Playlist Milan, the Birth Machine and the Time Machine took the top two places almost equally, and from what I’ve heard so far from other Italian enthusiasts and operators, the Mad Machines are also the benchmark when it comes to escape games all over Italy. I keep my fingers crossed, that they will soon make also their international breakthrough.
But the most important, dear Dr Mad, please don’t stop inventing these crazy, machines for us!
