The legend says that one of her maids Erzsébet slapped after something hard pulled her hair while combing. In this battle, there was a drop of blood on hand Erzsébets behind. As a result she got the idea that the blood of young virgins gave her the key to eternal youth.
In the following years, tortured and murdered over 600 young girls with the aim of bathing in and drinking their blood. This earned her the nickname “Blood Countess” and “Countess Dracula” on. When palatine György Thurzó in 1610 by order of the king invaded the castle of Báthory and her arrested, Erzsébet was the death penalty saved by the good name of her family.
