Red Room

This is a review of the Escape Room “Red Room” offered by DeCrypt in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • ⭐️ 7.7/10
  • 🌡 Difficult
  • ⏳ 60 Minutes
  • 👥 2 – 5 Person

The provider DeCrypt is located in the south of Prague, which is not quite as central but still easily accessible. It is an art gallery exhibiting unique designs by designer and artist Petr Lukáš Racek. His paper statues also appear in the missions, where they are combined with electronic effects and automation, allowing you to immerse yourself in a fantasy world. Currently, DeCrypt only has one scenario, the Red Room, which was opened in 2017. However, two more adventures, the Yellow Room, which is nearing completion, and the Blue Room, are under construction. The two new rooms will continue the story of the Red Room.

We were warmly welcomed by our game master Barbora, who speaks perfect English and also a little German, and kindly extended the regular opening hours for us a little bit. In a small animated film we learn about the tragic story of Mr. Paperman and his great love Miss Smallbag. The latter was kidnapped by the jealous Mr. Papercone and taken to a lonely island. Meanwhile, Mr. Paperman is trapped on a prison island. Our mission is to free him and to reunite the lovers.

The Red Room is something special! For one thing, it’s difficult! Only four teams managed to solve it in 2019 within the time limit, without tips. Also we, despite help, needed a little longer. But the 60 minutes are not a hard limit. If you don’t overrun mercilessly, the mission can be played generously until the end.

On the other hand it is really special! When you enter the game site, at least we felt that way, at first you thought you’d made a mistake in the door. We looked at each other and had no plan. And that remained so for the first few minutes. Only very slowly things progressed and the room gradually revealed its secrets.

I really liked the Red Room. Creative riddles, certainly unique decoration combined with an imaginative story. Captain Future meets Nautilus. Recommendation 3-4 people.
