Mad Genius Escape has a physical room called “Cat Lady”, however, “The Truth about Edith” is not the corresponding remote counterpart, which takes place in this real escape room. It is rather a hybrid – a mixture of an escape game (with game master and live actor) and an online game with many digital elements. The game is designed for exactly four players and is played via zoom.

The curious story about the cat-loving Edith Humphreys, who has made herself at home in the offices of Mad Genius Escape, and is a mystery to the staff there, is told in a very humorous way. Edith looks much younger than she is because she was born in 1902. According to this, she is currently 118 years old, which in no way stops her from running Marathons or do other crazy stuff. So, what is wrong with the old young lady?

What I liked best were the very entertaining interactions with the live actress, and I would have liked to have had more of them. But also, the online part is very creatively designed. The collaborative games are quite unique and fun. The individual players often have different views or information and must communicate a lot to solve the puzzles. So, each of the four players must do his part to achieve progress together. Not an easy game. We used our time limit (2 seconds remaining) quite well.

Without going too much into detail, it may be revealed that many facets of the Internet are served in the online part of the game, which you may like or not. In any case it is a special and very humorous experience. Watch the funny trailer about the ever-young lady to get an idea what the original story is about.
