It’s the turn of the century and the streets are not quiet. Crowds of people have taken up arms in protest of an increasing beer price. The mobs turn violent, setting the distilleries alight! Can we rescue the last beer recipe before it goes up in flame?

That’s a cool concept. If only the game did something, just anything, to capture that spirit.

But let me start with the puzzles, as they’re the highlight of this room. There is a good variety and everything felt logical. I think we needed two hints, but that was entirely our fault. We forgot to check a drawer! Obvious enough that I don’t think it gives anything away.

The technical puzzles worked smoothly and were nicely integrated into the theme.

The atmosphere was significantly lacking. There is no feeling of walking into a different time, nor even into a bar. Modern fixtures decorate this room, sparsely. The walls plain and the floor is shiny and new. Nothing grabbed my attention. You could walk right through as though it’s just one more showroom at Ikea.

You’d notice the introduction videos though, but not in a good way. They’d be better off tossing it and talking instead.

I like my atmosphere, and this room didn’t have any. It’s a shame, since the puzzles are good. No, the puzzles are above average, which makes the lack of ambience even more upsetting. I want to like the room more, but alas, it’s uninspired.
