Atrium Mortis is an event location (paintball and escape games) in Lebbeke, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Currently you can play two Escape Rooms there: Steampunk Sabotage or In Flanders Fields. This provider was unknown to me until now, but I am glad that it was recommended to us for the Belgium trip by the Pingouins Ténébreux. Especially because of the latter room.

In terms of theme and set design, Flanders Fields is somewhat comparable to Atrincherados (Terpeca Winner/Finalist 2019-2022), which you can play in Cerdanyola (near Barcelona) or now also in Madrid.

Our scenario is set in 1917, with World War 1 raging in Belgium. We have joined the resistance movement in Flanders and our mission is to cross no-man’s land at a suitable spot, locate a German machine gun nest and take it out.

The setting was pretty impressive and very well done. The puzzles fitted the theme very well and for the most part had a non-linear structure, so we were able to complete some of the numerous tasks in parallel. However, some tasks require teamwork and good communication. Four of us played, which I think is a good group size, and we made full use of the 60 minutes of playing time.

A clear recommendation from my side!
