Game Over

This is a review of the Escape Room “Game Over” offered by SawRoom in Sofia, Bulgaria.

We ignored all warnings on the website (torture, fear, rude behavior, medium injure possibility, don’t get surprised whatever happened to you, you choose it yourself, NOT FOR EVERYBODY!) – and of course we opted at SawRoom – Game Over for the “Are you fucking insane?” mode, which, according to the operator, does the majority of the overestimating customers. In contrast to the “Hardcore” mode, which can be played with up to 6 people, “Insane” is only played with 3-4 people. Why? You will see it!

It is advisable to watch the corresponding Saw film beforehand to recognize the numerous references to it. In terms of atmosphere and decoration, the two Saw rooms in Sofia were certainly the best I have played so far. It all seemed very authentic and the acting was really very real, because the guys take their job damn serious. This was impressively made clear to us right at the beginning, and it runs almost through the whole game.

The puzzles play only a minor role in Game Over. There are also not very many. Like in the movies it’s more about proving your survival instinct and passing the tests involved – torture machines, jigsaw traps, flee and try to escape.

It was a very special and intense experience. I like horror rooms and I’ve played a lot of them, but in retrospect I’d say that the Nightmare mode, the slightly toned-down version, would have been the better choice for us. It was a bit too violent for us, especially in a game sequence. The danger of injury mentioned on the website can’t be completely dismissed and Maxime, who heroically sacrificed himself for us, got some wounds.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t want to miss the game at all and actually found it quite cool. NOT FOR EVERYBODY hits the nail on the head, and whether you can really enjoy the game depends on whether you’re more of an observer or a victim in the mode we chose. That’s why I’m not sure if Maxim also found it cool ?.

As I said, my recommendation therefore, if you’re not really absolutely tough, the “hardcore” mode. We both played Saw-rooms one after the other (back2back), and voluntarily rowed back at the 2nd room. We had The Revenge, originally booked as “Nightmare” but then played “hardcore only” and had a much better experience.
