La Peluquería (The Hairdresser)
“La Peluquería” (The Hairdresser) was the winner at this year’s Escape Room Awards in Spain. Nominated in 7 of 8 categories, it ended up with 3 first places (best escape game, best experience, best riddles) and a third place (most original game). Of course, I couldn’t miss it when I was in Valencia.
Forget the Barber of Seville, because the only thing that’s hot right now is the Star Hairdresser of Valencia. Stars and starlets from all over the world, politicians, actors and musicians come to Remigio to be styled.
Pictures with thank-you notes from his most famous clients adorn the walls of the tranquil salon in droves and bear witness to the genius of the Majestro.
From Elvis, who regularly had his quiff styled here, to Hugh Jackman, whose beard and distinctive wolf’s quiff need to be brought into shape before the next X-Men film, to absolute trendsetters like Boris Johnson or Donald Trump.
Some of his clients blurt things out or perhaps tell Remigio a dark secret in a casual chat – everyone has their skeletons in the closet somewhere – and of course trust his discretion. But are their stories really in good hands with him, or is he perhaps saving them to make a profit when the time comes? That’s what we’re here to find out. But the maestro is suspicious and we have to be careful!
Original story, a good acting performance with lots of humour, roleplay, a variety of thematic and varied puzzles – even some I’ve never seen before, interesting twists and turns. I can very well understand why this experience was nominated in so many categories. Physical activities, action and spectacle are also provided, so I can recommend La Peluquería without reservation. It was great fun!
