Profana

This is a review of the Escape Room “Profana” offered by Profana Escape Rooms in Granollers, Spain.

Something dark disturbs the tranquility of the neighbors of the old Granollers cemetery. Shadows, noises, feeling that something is watching them, something is following them …

Profana is a new provider based in Granollers, which is approximately 45 minutes’ drive northwest of Barcelona. Parking spaces are available. The 90-minute escape game of the same name, which was nominated in the category “Best Horror Escape Game” at the Horror Awards in 2019, can be played in the modes Mystery, Tension or Terror. Terror mode is only recommended for a maximum of four players.

Of course, we chose the terror mode. Dominique – not (yet) a fan of horror games, but we are working on it – was out of the game anyway but could watch us from the GM room. Many thanks to the Profana team for this opportunity. After the rest of the team was allowed to enter the venue, the game started relatively quickly. A successful start in my opinion that creates some goosebumps and gives you a little cemetery feeling.

After a prologue that was a bit too long for my taste, we find ourselves in a cemetery and are very impressed by the setting that the boys built themselves. In the spaciousness it is great fun to explore the surroundings with a slightly queasy feeling. Little by little we succeed in unraveling the secrets of the graves. But the adventure is far from over.

The game has some really good approaches, such as personal tasks that are cool, or the awesome decoration, but certainly also still has upward potential in terms of riddles, jump scares or a few more effects.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. We played Profana in three. This is a good team size for the terror mode (max. 4 people).
