Bydgoszcz (Bromberg in German) together with Wrocław (Breslau) forms the top hotspot duo when it comes to escape games in Poland. These two cities offer the largest number of high-quality escape games and as a result, they were the most frequently mentioned by local enthusiasts when we asked for recommendations. This has also been confirmed on our previous four ER trips to Poland.

Wyjście Awaryjne (engl. Emergency Exit) is the largest and best provider in Bydgoszcz, which was able to place 5 Terpeca finalists in 2022 with Metro, In the Shadow of the Pyramids, Legend of the Sword, Sea Tales and Pirate Tavern. The latter two newest rooms. Pirate Tavern is a fifty minute mission that pretty much tells the prequel to Sea Tales. That’s why you should book the pirate tavern too, if possible and of course play the two rooms in the right order.

Sea Tales begins below decks on a pirate ship that we were kidnapped on when we were caught trying to plunder the pirate tavern. There we now have 90 minutes to escape our fate.

For us it was very close. A precision landing, so to speak. However, there were only two of us and there was quite a lot to do below deck and on other stations of our flight. The setting was very appealing, as we are used to from this provider. Creaking floorboards, good lighting (not too dark), the right soundscape, high-quality props, etc.

Our game master did an excellent job, spoke very good English, managed our game confidently and offered help at the right moments – we got a bit wrong with a somewhat more complex task in the middle part of the game.

I liked most of the puzzles. They were thematic and sometimes challenging. In general, Sea Tales had a consistently good flow of the game. In summary we had a lot of fun! From my point of view, there is nothing wrong with a 91st place at the Terpeca 2022. A clear game recommendation from me too.
