Our vacation comes to an abrupt halt as we find ourselves trapped in a cage. Given the decor, I don’t think our guest has friendly plans for us. We should probably break out before he gets back.

This room has the standard horror decorations, a cage, a strange chair, a metal table, some odd instruments, and organs trapped in jars. Like the other rooms from this host, it is still minimal. They’re done the least amount to convey the idea and no more. It’s not bad, but there’s no real sense of atmosphere.

In retrospect, I don’t think this game had many puzzles. And many of them were the lock-and-combination kind, though not all. It had an acceptable combination of techniques, yet didn’t add any originality to the mix.

It had an overlong deciphering puzzle. I’m firmly of the opinion that once you understand a puzzle, it shouldn’t take minutes to solve it. Especially if most of the result is simply not needed. A single word would have worked in this case.

The Hostel is a mediocre escape room.
